Now is the time! Your participation is vital. Our campaign is not just about our building it’s about enriching our lives and enhancing our community now and in the future. Take the opportunity to be involved in something good, positive, beneficial and meaningful!
Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is? ~Frank Scully
In January 2009 the Hannibal Arts Council board of directors stepped out on a limb and took a risk. After years of considering a move to Downtown Hannibal and months of considering the options, the organization seized an opportunity and purchased 105-107 South Main Street.
Since the purchase, complete renovation and completion of its facility, the Hannibal Arts Council has further contributed to the enhancement of the community. How?
- The number of community organizations utilizing the meeting and workshop spaces has increased.
- Core programs have been retained and enhanced.
- Programs are open to all, with no barriers to participation.
- New programs have been created and others revamped.
- Walk-in traffic and gallery visitors are way up.
- New partnerships have been created.
- Participation in downtown special events is now possible.
- We’ve played a role in downtown revitalization and beautification.
The community is enjoying the benefits of having a fully-accessible facility with program, meeting, workshop, and exhibit space all on one floor (plus the additional office, meeting and storage space on the second floor).
Progress always involves risks. You can't steal second base and keep your foot on first. ~Frederick B. Wilcox
Yes, the Hannibal Arts Council took a risk and we are glad we did! Our Building for Our Future campaign to fully fund the project and the resulting benefits has a goal of $250,000. To date we have raised $120,060 with $129,940 left to secure. Many community leaders are stepping forward. With the community’s help, we will successfully complete the campaign and continue down our path to enhancing the community via the arts now and in the future.
Thoughtfully consider a tax-deductible gift to the Hannibal Arts Council’s Building for Our Future Campaign and the creation of a visible, viable and valuable home for the arts in Hannibal.
